Lent III

O God, you are my God; eagerly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you, as in a barren and dry land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

Unfortunately, many children in Maryland hunger and thirst for healthy breakfast choices. Their needs are often overlooked as government funding is cut and many fall through the cracks. As followers of Jesus you are invited to participate in “Hear the Maryland Crunch!” Maryland Hunger Solutions wants us to “make some noise for school breakfast” by taking a bite out of an apple at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 10th. You may consider moving this feast to Sunday March 6th. Make it fun, but use it as an opportunity to find ways to support change through public policy, direct giving, or forging relationships with families that will bear fruit. No pun intended. A Prayer for Children Who Are Hungry

O loving and embracing God, Mother of all humankind, we ask your blessing upon all children who are hungry. Grant unto the people of this world the desire to feed, protect, and nurture all whom you have made. Deliver us from the presumption of being satisfied when we have fed our own bellies and neglected the cries of starvation from your children. Forgive us, transform us, empower us that we may bring food and blessing to all your children; in Christ’s name we pray. Amen. Prayers of Our Hearts: In Word and Action, Vienna Cobb Anderson
